You might have seen me heading to the new Deciem store in Covent Garden on my instagram stories last week. I was so excited to check out the store and get my hands on some new potions for my face.
It turned out I was late to the party finding most of the shelves empty. So whilst I wasn’t able to repurchase ‘buffet‘ the serum everyone should be using. I was able to get my hands on two new products that I really wanted to try.
I’ve been looking for a product to even out my skin tone and neutralise the white cast from the SPF I’m using. I tried a couple of BB creams that were too pink for my skin tone. I’d heard the serum foundation from The Ordinary is super lightweight with a decent shade selection. Someone in the store quickly matched me with shade 1.2N which is perfect for me. It’s a thin consistency and half a pump is plenty to even out my skintone without looking like I’m wearing any makeup. It leaves a nice subtle glow and glides across the skin quite nicely when I apply it on top of SPF with my fingers.
When using a foundation I like to prime with a moisuriser to flood my skin beforehand. This prevents the foundation creasing or sitting in any fine lines. I had a tube of natural moisturizing factors + HA for a while but wanted to wait until the weather is a bit colder to start using it. I’ve started applying this after serum and before SPF, it hydrates and protects the surface layers of the skin with hyaluronic acid and amino acids. A couple of times I noticed foundation sitting in the lines on my forehead so I sprayed a couple pumps of Hylamide hydra-density mist to blend everything together and it worked a treat.
The last thing I picked up was AHA 30% – BHA 2% peeling solution which is a strong acid exfoliator. I chose this for two reasons. I wanted a BHA exfoliator to unclog the pores around my nose. The AHA 30% is a cocktail of Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric acids which give a full-on exfoliation in 10 minutes. I can use this one a week which simplifies my daily routine. I love the results of this and it didn’t cause any irritation. If your skin is used to direct acids then try it once a week otherwise The Ordinary have other milder options to choose from.
I’m so happy with the results from all of the products that I found myself on the website looking at what else they have. So far I have my eye on EUK 134 0.1% which sounds like an excellent antioxidant and I was excited to see they will soon be launching SPF including a clear version that I can’t wait to get my hands on.
