And I’m not talking about that glass of juice with breakfast….
Of all the active ingredients available in skincare vitamin c is one of my favourites. That’s probably because it’s the first to show a noticeable difference on my skin. Hello glowing, even toned complexion! It was shortly after starting this blog that I started testing out different products. My skincare routine was relatively low maintenance at the time and vitamin c got me into active ingredients. View Post
Cell turnover decreases during the Winter causing skin to look dull. If you consider central heating that dry’s the skin we are in need of an SOS. Save our skin!
I chose three products that when used together transform your skin to it’s ultimate glossiness.
Kiehls Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate delivers 10.5% pure vitamin c with a separate product specifically for the eye area. Topical vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that is known to brighten the skin. These work well at night and when used together they will also help smooth out fine lines. Vitamin C resurfaces the skin which is exactly what skin needs in the winter. Gentle resurfacing can create a brighter and more even tone of the skin.
After your morning cleanse apply a small amount of RODIN olio lusso*, this is a lovely rich face oil that provides enough hydration to get you through the day (it also smells delish). When used in combination with the vitamin c your skin should start to look more like an instagram filter. HOLA! Don’t forget to finish off with some SPF 25 or higher.
Kiehls is available online and in stores worldwide.
Nuori is an exciting new skincare brand from Denmark with an interesting concept. This brand is built on a foundation of freshness. Nuori products are produced in small batches every 12 weeks to prevent the need for preservatives in the all-natural formulations. It ensures the actives are at their highest potency, thus providing maximum benefits to the skin. HOLA! The design of this brand is beautiful with minimal packaging and lovely solid bottles that feel nice to the touch. For the last 10 days I have used the Vital Foaming Cleanser and Supreme-C Serum Treatment religiously.
The cleanser is a joy to use, unlike most foaming cleansers this is rich, creamy and deeply hydrating. It smells slightly fruity and 2 pumps leave my skin soft, bright and comforted. I recommend this for morning use as foam cleansers generally don’t remove makeup or spf.
The treatment serum felt quite sticky at first. Whilst vitamin c products often leave a residue on the skin I found this one quite uncomfortable. The stickiness is due to a botanical based glycerin which acts as a humectant. This helps the skin retain moisture whilst strengthening the barrier function. Besides the stickiness I find this product amazing at smoothing, detoxifying and brightening the skin. It’s also incredibly hydrating and after a week the product felt better more comfortable on my skin. I’m now 10 days in and the texture of my skin has transformed – it’s beyond smooth! The instructions suggest a full pipette of serum but I find 5 drops sufficient with no need for additional moisturiser. My skin is starting to feel slightly sensitive so I’m going to use this product just at night for the final 10 days.
Due to the lack of preservatives it’s important to start using these products asap. The box comes with a ‘start using by’ date and you will find the ‘use by’ date on the base of the bottle. My products have a start date of 21st of Feb 2016 and a use by date of 15th of May 2016.

“To sum this up in a nutshell. I’m using face wash as body wash and eye cream as facial moisturiser and absolutely loving it!”
In less than 24hrs it will be 2016 and like every other year I’m excited and hopeful the new year will bring exciting opportunities. I’m also looking at ways to clean up and improve my daily life. First step is to de-clutter my ever growing skincare collection!
Earlier this year I featured Perricone MD which worked great during the summer months. The citrus face wash contains vitamin C which is great for brightening the skin. However it also contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) which is not my favourite ingredient as it can leave my skin dry. Therefore the citrus face wash is a no-go for my face during the winter months but I must admit I’ve been using it as a body wash. At 42€ this is an expensive product to be using this way but it feels so nice and indulgent that I’m doing it anyway. The SLES creates lots of foam which is always nice in the shower and afterwards my skin is brighter and smoother that I’m now kind of addicted.
I’m so lazy when it comes to using eye creams. I prefer using a serum everywhere followed by a moisturiser or face oil. Therefore I started mixing the Cold Plama Eye with an Odacité Serum Concentrate (read about this brand here) and applying them to my entire face and neck area. To sum this up in a nutshell. I’m using face wash as body wash, eye cream as facial moisturiser and absolutely loving it! It may seem like I’m discounting Perricone MD but this isn’t the case at all. I like this brand a lot and look forward to trying more products in the range.
