Face oils provide much needed nutrition for the skin. They aren’t just for dry or dehydrated skin, if you have acne prone skin you can also benefit from using an oil, proving it’s the correct one. Jurlique recently sent me their selection of face oils and it seems they have something for everyone. The scent varies throughout the three due the varying blends of oils and none are too potent or overwhelming. The price point of £34.20/€38.00 is reasonable considering you get 50ml of product. I recommend using the right one for your skin type in combination with an acid exfoliator and serum as part of your evening skin care routine. More information on the three different varieties is listed below.
BEST FOR OILY OR COMBINATION SKIN SKIN BALANCING FACE OIL. As the name suggests this oil will re balance the skin using a blend of Safflower Oil (which protects the skin against moisture loss), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (replenishes the skin with natural fatty acid’s), Avocado Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil and Shea butter which all nourish, moisturise, soften and plump the skin. Evening Primrose Oil, Chamomile and Daisy flower extract will sooth and calm any irritation brought upon by hormones, changes in weather or stress. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) and Echinacea will heal and repair any damage to the skin. This is a lightweight oil that absorbs easily without any residue on the surface of the skin. A good choice for oily skin providing you use just 2-3 drops.
BEST FOR DULL SKIN ANTIOXIDANT FACE OIL. A blend of antioxidants and plant extracts combat free radicals/environmental damage that causes skin to become dull. Avocado Oil (nurtures and protects the skin from moisture loss) Grape Seed Oil (softens the appearance of fine lines) and Squalane (boosts the skin’s regenerative abilities). It’s a good idea to spend a minute massaging the oil into your skin. This will boost circulation and detoxify your skin leaving it looking brighter and more radiant.
BEST FOR SKIN WITH VISIBLE SIGNS OF AGEING. FIRMING FACE OIL. As we get older our skin’s ability to regenerate and produce collagen decreases. Safflower oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil , Rosa Canina Oil, Avocado Oil, Black Currant Seed Oil ,Cacao Seed Butter and Licorice root extract work in harmony to hydrate and plump up the skin. This also contains Vitamin A which gives this product it’s anti-ageing credentials. Products containing Vitamin A are best used at night as daylight will weaken this vitamin reducing it’s ability to rejuvenate the skin.

More than anything I would like to be lazing in some far-flung, exotic destination. Sipping something sweet in a warm breeze with the gentle sounds of waves hitting the shore. Unfortunately this desert island dream won’t be a reality anytime soon but thanks to African Botanics I’m feeling that little bit closer. Recently I’ve started using the Baobab Clay Oxygenating Cleanser & the Neroli infused Marula Oil. I was instantly taken with the packaging which also comes in beautiful boxes and the natural fragrances are beyond. Marula Oil is the heart of the brand and features in each of the products throughout the range. When a fruit bearing tree can withstand droughts and the constant onslaught of sun imagine what the cold pressed oil from the seed of that fruit can do for our complexion?
Whilst my skin leans toward dry & sensitive my pores can easily become congested. I’m always on the look out for a great cleanser with the ability to remove impurities without drying or irritating my skin. For a while I’ve been using the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip which has been great however the Baobab Clay Cleanser is my new best friend. I’m a sucker for packaging (as long as what’s inside works) and the silver tube looks great in my bathroom and my instagram feed. The smell is so unusual. It’s very rich, sweet and slightly bitter – I just love it. I had a very small breakout after using this for the first time which healed in no time thanks to the nourishing oils. For me this was a good sign as it seems to be clearing my skin without drying or irritation.
If you like Neroli you will love the Neroli infused Marula Oil. The smell is what transports me to a desert island. It’s sweet, rich and super luxurious. A lot like Vintners Daughter this oil works on different skin types. It’s rich and absorbs quickly with the ability to thoroughly moisturise and plump whilst preventing or healing acne or breakouts. I plan to keep this in it’s box to preserve it from degrading day light.
I know this has been a gushing review but I really love the brand. The only thing I can think of that might put anyone off is the price. These products are all luxury and only the highest grade of botanicals are used which is what you are paying for besides the luxurious packaging. If you can afford it then I urge you to give them a try because the performance and overall experience is just lovely. I also recommend reading more about the benefits of Marula Oil and check out the founders who have a lovely story. I have a few more products from the brand which I will share with you over the coming weeks.

During the winter months our cell turnover is slower which can result in dehydrated and dull skin. A culmination of dead skin will stop our moisturiser absorbing efficiently thus preventing it from really working it’s magic. I’ve put together three products that when used in combination will help smooth out the surface skin with deep hydration and increased radiance.
Kiehls Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate* delivers 10.5% pure vitamin c with a separate product specifically for the eye area. I recommend using these at night, when used together they will help smooth out fine lines whilst gently retexturising the skin which creates a brighter and more even tone.
After your morning cleanse apply a small amount of RODIN olio lusso*, this is a lovely rich face oil that provides enough hydration to get you through the day (it also smells delish). When used in combination with the vitamin c your skin should start to look more like an instagram filter. HOLA! Don’t forget to finish off with some SPF 25 or higher.
Kiehls is available online and in stores worldwide.
A lot of my posts open with a comment regarding the weather. Hmm, I guess I’m obsessed except I like to differentiate myself from the majority of folk as I tend not to complain about it. Hot, cold even fog or rain – I love it all and I always feel the need to alter my skincare routine to ensure I get the correct type of protection. The first snow fell over the weekend and it’s now super cold here. I like to run outdoors and freezing cold air is way harsh on my precious skin. So! I switched up last weeks moisturiser to my favourite face oil from Herbivore Botanicals*. This moisturising powerhouse contains Organic Golden Jojoba, Organic Argan, and Organic Rosehip oils. The juicy cocktail of goodness absorbs into my skin perfectly, leaving me hydrated and happy! Face oil’s are great for many skin types including oily or combination. They provide essential fatty acids which maintain the nourishment and hydration levels of the skin. You can purchase a bottle for yourself at WOODBERG the website is also in English and they deliver worldwide. WOOP WOOP!
