A trip to the mountains…
My boyfriend and I went on a day trip to the mountains this week. In the last weeks we were both busy with work and some quality time with the dog seemed like a good idea.It turned out to be a great idea. I love to visit the mountains, the air is so clean and everything is so beautiful. We went to our usual spot in the Bavarian alps, a small town called Oberstdorf. It’s about an hour drive from home and we set off early with the dog.
We arrived mid morning and went for a wander around the town. Picking up some mountain cheese and other gifts for the family. The town of Oberstdorf is also a popular destination for skiers so there’s a fair amount of tourism without it being too busy. After mooching round the shops we went to a traditional restaurant for some lunch to fuel up before an afternoon of hiking.
The trip was a perfect excuse to wear my new Stutterheim raincoat. The brand is from Sweden and the selection of styles is huge. I wanted the Alpha M65 fishtail in navy. This design is for men and women and was created in collaboration with Alpha Industries. It’s a true investment pieces that should last forever. So when you consider I come from the UK where it rains regularly it’s a sound investment. I also made use of my G.H Bass x Cape Heights Boots that served me well through the snowy winter, not to mention hiking through the mountains. I didn’t think I would use them that much. How wrong was I!
Kitted out in suitable clothing we headed out after our lunch to explore the nature. It’s so beautiful and my dog Ralphy absolutely loved it. He was running through the river and rolling in the filth as dogs generally love to do. It was super cute to watch him in his element. We walked for a couple of hours taking photos and enjoying the views. The weather was generally good and the temperature was relatively mild. Eventually we found a cafe and stopped for a coffee and some cake. It was mid afternoon as we finished so we decided to head back down to the town and check out the shops again before heading back to the car.
Instead of feeling exhausted from all the walking like I half expected I actually felt refreshed and relaxed. I couldn’t say the same for Ralphy mind you. He passed out as soon as we got back to the car and proceeded to sleep at every opportunity until the next morning.
