Alex Carro is great new line of all-natural skin care from Barcelona. It’s a capsule range containing five intermixable products. This well balanced collection will work for most skin types from normal to dry – I received three products to try out.

The cleanser is a gel texture which dissolves into a milk once emulsified with water. If you like a moisturing cleanser but find a balm or oil heavy then this is a good option. If you use a foaming cleanser now might be a good time to switch to a more nourishing, gentle cleanser such as this.  The exfoliating powder can be added to the cleanser to create a scrub or add it to the face oil for a hydrating scrub. Personally I prefer to cleanse my face first and before rinsing I add a half teaspoon of the exfoliating powder to damp hands and gently massage it in with the cleanser to exfoliate. The cleanser contains jojoba oil for moisture, petitgrain to re-balance, palmarose for hydration and uplifting bitter orange. The exfoliating powder is a combination of natural granules and enzyme powders. These are made up of bamboo, rosehip, papaya, pineapple and enzymes of papain and bromelain.

Last up is the balancing face oil. This is my favourite product due to it’s smell which I really like. The blend of rose, geranuim, patchouli, Moroccan argan, evening primrose and Japanese rice bran oils creates a luxurious, spa-like fragrance which I find extremely calming. It’s a relatively lightweight oil which gives my skin an intense glow after the cleanser and exfoliator. Due to the soothing fragrance I prefer to use this at night.

The reduced design of the packaging reflects the simplified approach of this brand which I like very much. If you visit the Alex Carro website you will see the products also come in nice grey boxes. They offer a gift box and a sampling set making this is great option for gifting this Christmas. All of the ingredients are functional and nourish the skin, naturally. In addition to the three products I featured there is a face cream and a multi-use balm which I imagine will make the most wonderful lip balm this winter.

This week I’m like one of those people who constantly post pictures of their cat’s or their kids. I haven’t got any cat’s or kids so I’ve been posting pictures of trees. I just love Autumn with it’s golden coziness. The first sign of colder weather and I’m already making cottage pies and planning where I’ll buy my crazy Christmas socks from. The tree obsession needs to calm down, my instagram feed is full of them. In today’s post there’s not a hint of a tree not even a single golden leaf. Instead I’d like to tell you about my lovely new hand & body wash from MALIN + GOETZ. I recently featured their detox cleansing mask and it’s still my favourite. The body wash is also a lovely treat. The bulk of anyone’s skincare budget should go on the face but considering skin is our biggest organ we should splurge on a gentle body wash when possible. MALIN + GOETZ only formulate with functional ingredients that are good for us. It’s not completely natural and organic but you won’t find an effective yet drying foaming agent or any potentially irritating artificial fragrances. This has a subtle yummy fragrance of lime and foams very nicely. It would make an excellent Christmas gift as it comes in a nice box. The brand has stand alone stores in London or you can order online from Liberty. Another brand I like is NIOD. The mother company Deciem recently launched a new brand called The Ordinary which is anything but. I’m desperate to get my hands on some of the products to share with you all. For now I’m using NIOD Flavanone Mud which is responsible for clearing out the pores in my t zone. Do you remember the terrible sachet mud masks, well this is nothing like those. Containing¬†bentonite clay, black mud and a highly purified flavanone derived from citrus peel this chocolaty concoction effectively cleanses my sometimes congested pores. Beware, it stings when emulsified with water which they say is to be expected in some cases. It’s not super uncomfortable but in my case it’s definitely noticeable. It’s recommended for use once a week with the option to use daily for the first five days which accelerates the results.

My go-to wardrobe staples must be versatile and comfortable. These Drape shoes from Farah Menswear are comfortable enough to wear on a wander through the forest yet smart enough for an evening out. Same goes with these denim trousers from DML Jeans. I like this style as they aren’t too skinny in the leg yet come in slim at the ankle. They also offer short, regular and long options for the legs. So, if you prefer a style that’s shorter in the leg then this is the brand for you.

The temperature keeps moving up and down as we enter the golden glow of Autumn. One day it’s super cold and the next it’s mild and sunny. Coughs and colds are rampant and to avoid getting ill I’m using my five foods that fight infections.

Honey All honey is good at fighting infection but the manuka variety from New Zealand is the best of all. Many people make the mistake of adding it to boiling water which destroys much of the benefits. To make the most of your honey eat a tablespoon daily and make sure it’s raw and unfiltered for the maximum benefits.

Lemon We all know that lemons are full of Vitamin C but many of us think they are acidic. Whilst they taste bitter lemon alkalizes once inside our bodies helping fight inflammation which is a key to staying healthy. I like to add the juice of 1 lemon to a mug. Half fill it with cold water and then top it up with boiling water from the kettle. This way it’s warm enough to fire up the digestive system yet retains all the precious vitamins.

Ginger Whenever I feel a cold coming on I always have a shot of pressed ginger juice. It’s super spicy but any symptoms of the cold are quickly gone. If you don’t own a juicer try grating the ginger and adding it to hot water or even a nice soup.

Garlic In my opinion garlic can be more powerful than many antibiotic, without any of the downsides. There is one common downside however which is the smell. On the rare occasion I’m hit with a cold or the flu then I finely chop three large cloves of garlic and mix them with a dairy-free yogurt and add some fresh lemon juice. It’s guaranteed you will stink but take this once a day and your cold or flu will soon be gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar Like lemon ACV becomes alkaline once ingested. This is a great choice for salad dressings. Unlike regular vinegar that causes inflammation this also prevents stomach bugs and fights bacteria thanks to it’s natural antibiotic properties.

The Fall is in full swing and with the newly golden leaves I also welcome some new additions to my life. Farah Menswear recently sent me a pair of their Drape shoes which suit my style perfectly and I can’t wait to wear them. I have some cool skincare pieces from a new brand in Barcelona called Alex Carro. NIOD are always on the pulse when it comes to forward thinking skincare and no doubt their Favanone Mud will make no exception. My favourite eyewear brand sorted me out with these cool shades from their limited edition B-Zero collection. ACE!

Everything will be featured separately and in more detail very soon. Enjoy the rest of your week and come back on Friday when I will be uploading another post.
