how to be more productive

Christmas is one of the few times throughout the year when most of us have some time for ourselves. In addition to cooking, eating, spending time with the family. More eating, sleeping (can’t wait for that) and watching movies. I really want to find some inspiration. The new year is about to come knocking and I want to put my best foot forward. If you also want to start the new year motivated and on the right track. Then I have some ideas to get the most from your Christmas break.

things to do over the holidays

Dive into a new world with a documentary or podcast.

Recently I started listening to podcasts in the bath. Not only is this super relaxing which aids productivity later on, there are a ton of topics to draw inspiration from. I’m into health and skincare so I find The Emma Gun’s Show really interesting. She speaks to leaders in the hair, beauty, wellness and blogging industries which is fascinating if that floats your boat. Some of the episodes go into things like women hormones which isn’t of great interest to me but over all I thinks Emma’s interviews are super interesting. Fashion documentaries always inspire me and Creation & Chaos is a must see. It was made by the son of Franca Sozzani who for many years was editor in chief of Italian Vogue. It’s a little bit sad because Franca passed away this year but what she created is unbelievable and the documentary is worth seeing.

Catch up on some sleep.

Last night I had the best nights sleep in a long time and I woke up feeling so rested, it was heaven. Lately I’ve been going to bed too late and waking before my alarm. Caused by some stress and anxiety I expect. If you haven’t been getting enough rest then an hour or two extra will do you the world of good. Either that or a nice afternoon nap here and there should help re-balance you.

Learn something new.

Thanks to this blog I’m learning so many things. From photography to technical stuff like product widgets and so forth, yesterday I learned how to create snow in photoshop. Here is the video in case you are interested. Learning something new can make you feel happier and more confident and the holidays are a great time to start.

Great photos. On the topic of learning something new everyday – I was able to like this from my WordPress account, but I don’t think your site is on WordPress. How have you managed that cross platform functionality?

I have a wordpress blog but I’m self hosting which allows me to have a custom design and unlimited plug ins

Ahh, now I understand. I also saw the WordPress tag at the bottom of your site after I posted the comment. The self-hosted route seems like it has a lot of advantages, but it also seems like more work than I’d be ready for in terms of site maintenance.
