It’s official, Spring is here!
Despite the rain I’m just happy it’s no longer freezing cold. March took a wild turn with the weather (hello snow) and I’m sure we can all agree it’s a pleasure to wave Winter goodbye. The longer days have filled me with energy and optimism. I’m ready to grab life by the horns and get things going. This means more exercise and a new food plan, not to mention a few other tricks I have up my sleeve.
Back to the gym…
In the last 5 or so years my exercise routine has been on the back burner. Other than the odd YouTube yoga class I have barely done anything fitness related. I actually enjoy working out and prior to my half decade lapse you would find me in the gym 5 days a week. So thanks to the slowly forming muffin top around my waist I’m eager to get back at it and shape up.
I’m currently two weeks in and enjoying my new workout routine. It’s still a bit scary walking into the gym and trying to get back into the swing of things trying to look invisible. These places are intimidating at the best of times but with practice comes confidence. I allow myself three workouts a week with is a combination of weights and cardio. I always have a day off in between sessions with some stretching which allows my body to recover.
Switching up the food plan…
I’m more savory than sweet but I fell in love with hot chocolate over the Winter. On the way home from work I started to treat myself to a cup as it makes the walk to the station that little bit easier in the cold. It became a bit of a habit but now the evenings are lighter and milder I’m craving it less. I’m also reducing the amount of bread I eat. I love bread (who doesn’t) but I’ve switched my morning toast and marmite for some muesli and yogurt. The evening meals are transitioning from comfort food to big chicken salads with roasted veg and tasty pasta dishes.
My current instagram account has changed a lot since I first started blogging which led me to evaluate it recently. For a long time I would share a variety of content on instagram as I do on my blog. But since the algorithm I’ve found this doesn’t work anymore. I also needed to consider that my blog and instagram followers have evolved over the last couple of years. On instagram my followers are mostly male and seem to prefer menswear over the other topics I cover. Whereas the blog is a mixture of men and women interested in lifestyle and skincare.
Because of this I decided to start a second instagram account to support this content. Right now it seems like the best option but I need to see how it goes. In terms of the blog nothing is changing. This is still the place where everything comes together under one roof. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
