MY EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

evening skincare routine

First step cleanse…

Cleansing is the nicest part of my evening skincare routine, it’s like taking my shoes off after a long day. For a while I tried the whole double cleanse malarky but my skin doesn’t usually need it. I’m still using Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and I bloody love it. That rose/plastic-y smell is so addictive that my other cleansers are gathering dust in the corner. If my skin is feeling particularly filthy or congested I will add a second cleanse in the shower. I like NIOD Sanskrit Saponins. It just sucks up any dirt like a hoover.

Essence…

No longer do I roll my eyes at the whole spritz thing, I’m totally into them. I’m currently using and loving Hydrating Floral Essence by Tata Harper. My skin seems to like it, I definitely like it so every evening I’ll be misting on my merry way. Eye cream is another non essential item that I cannot live without. You can totally get away with a serum around the eye area instead of adding another product to the routine. But I like it and I want it so I’m doing it! I’m loving Restorative Eye Cream also by madame Tata Harper. It’s intensely rich and my thirsty old bags drink it up like champagne.

Actives…

I forgot to include it in the photo but I also use an antioxidant. I’m about 3/4 through a bottle of The Ordinary EUK 134. It’s a preventative product, kinda like SPF, so I can’t see what it’s doing but Brandon from Deciem said it’s an amazing antioxidant. And if it’s good enough for him it’s good enough for me. My go-to active in the evening is a retinol or retinoid. I’m just getting to the end of Merumaya Retinol Resurfacing Treatment. I wanted to hate it because I really take offense to the packaging but it’s just too good. It’s powerful without irritating and it also contains peptides and hyaluronic acid. I can use it every night and my skin responds well to it.

Hydrate…

Clinique kindly sent me a jar of their Moisture Surge Cream. I so wish I’d had this in the winter when my skin really needed it. It’s probably the most hydrating moisturiser I have ever used. Surprisingly it’s a gel and a little goes a long way hence the tiny pot. When it’s on my skin feels quenched like never before and I wake up with a nice glow. I pop on a small amount as the last step after the retinol.
