HOW TO GET OUT OF A CREATIVE BLOCK

Oh lordy I have been struggling to blog this week and I’m blaming it on the gloomy weather. The sun disappeared behind a huge blanket of clouds and it’s done nothing but rain. It’s been a busy week with work which is great. On Monday I went to Stuttgart to pick up equipment for a photo shoot and Christian agreed to take some pictures of me for this blog post. Tuesday we drove to the shoot inside a factory located in the southern mountains which still looked beautiful in the insane rain that poured all day long. I also had a couple of opportunities for the blog which you will see in the next couple of months.

I knew I needed to write a post today and for some reason I haven’t been able to come up with a topic. I went through my list of ideas which didn’t inspire me like it usually does. This type of situation happens to all of us from time to time and lucky for me the situation somehow inspired me to write this post. It’s not the first time I’ve been left feeling uninspired and I’ve learned the worst thing to do is sit and stare at the computer.

Talk it out. A great tip is to call up a friend for a chat, especially someone who can make you laugh. When I’m stuck I can get frustrated and taking everything too seriously doesn’t help the situation either. A lighthearted chat with someone who lifts you up is a great way to freshen up the mind and they might even offer some useful ideas.

Do some exercise. I know! I always say this haha, but it’s does work and you know it! A good yoga session or a run will get you all freshened up and hopefully the creative juices will flow. If not then dance it out to your favourite tunes.

Change your environment. If you work from home then long periods of time alone and in the same place can become uninspiring. Human interaction is important so consider switching the location from time to time. A co-working space is a great idea as it should be full of like minded people who are also there to get some work done. If this isn’t an option then consider a library.

Read a blog! I’m constantly inspired by my fellow bloggers, sometimes I read something I love which somehow inspires something completely different that I hadn’t otherwise thought of.

I’m hoping my blogging mojo returns by the weekend and as I’m writing this I just had the idea to do something skincare related. Perhaps writing it out helped me move past the block so there’s another tip to add to the list! If you have any suggestions then let me know.
