skincare that makes you go ooh…

I mentioned in my 2018 skincare resolutions post that I want to go easy on the retinol and acid. Well I changed my mind. Just kidding! I’m definitely still in the mindset of taking things easy skincare wise. So through some stroke of luck a couple of Alex Carro products arrived at my door. I have tried this brand before and I like it.

Alex Carro is a capsule range of natural skincare in lovely minimal packaging. It’s good quality natural skincare that works perfectly for those¬†in-between days when I’m not using a retinol or acid. The Facial Cleanser has a gel to oil texture that works perfectly during the Winter. It feels gentle and nourishing on the skin and leaves a soft layer of moisture that I like. It’s a good all rounder that I think will benefit most skin types. The Balancing Face Oil is also really nice. The oils have been chosen to suit most skin types and I agree with that. It does contain fragranced oils which can be problematic to some so bear that in mind if you’re allergic. Both of the products have a holistic, spa like smell without being overpowering or flowery.

The cleanser contains Jojoba, Grape seed, Orange peel, Bitter Orange, Lemongrass and natural Vitamin E. These claim to deep cleanse, balance and unclog pores. Whist I don’t think this will be a problem to congested skin I don’t think it will fix the problem if that’s what you’re looking for. Personally I would recommend a¬†salicylic acid cleanser over this one which means taking the non natural route. Being a gel to oil texture this will remove makeup or SPF but given the nourishing ingredients I would limit this to a second cleanse. The face oil contains Evening Primrose, Japanese rice bran, Geranium and Patchouli oils. It smells nice and calming so I like to apply a couple of drops in the evening before bed. It’s not too heavy or sticky and it absorbs quickly into my skin.
